2016-2017 Semester 2

Week 7

2/21/17

Today, we had a final presentation about the JPL robot. During the FRC meeting, the robot was bagged and tagged, and I basically completed the robot costume hands.

2/22/17

Today we had the cardboard E Wednesday Challenge except for the fact that instead of an E, we were to build an A. We started of by making a Sketchup of the A on Erin's laptop. Our A was as simple and blocky as possible to facilitate easy fabrication. Aftewrwards, I made an ultimate super duper A that was made of 10,000 other A's that almost crashed Erin's laptop.

2/23/17

Today was the fabrication part of the Wednesday Challenge. We couldn't open the Sketcup file because it was saved in a newer version of Sketchup, so I looked on Keilah's tablet and built what I saw on there. I finished cutting out what I presumed to be Keilah's Sketchup, but after I turned it in, it turned out that the A that I had cut out was, in fact, the A that Keilah's group had received to cut out themselves.

2/24/17

Today, I was browsing neymanfencing.com, a HEMA supplier for the US, and found some typos on the page. I contacted the person in charge, and after showing him some of the typos on the site, he gave me a personal discount code for the website. This is really cool becuase HEMA gear costs wuite a bit (€70 for shin/knee guards, €100 for a mask and padding, €200 for a synthetic longsword, €25 for shipping from Poland, etc.). During lunch, Keilah ragequit and uninstalled Clash Royale. During the class period, we watched a video on a machine that was built to look for Earth-like planets in outer space. Afterwards, we went over the results of the Wednesday Challenge. As expected, our group was disqualified for fabricating the wrong CAD, and in addition, Keilah and Connor won the Wednesday Challenge.
